1Introduction

Bergen Computer Solutions, LLC (“BCS,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) operates the website bergencomputersolutions.com and provides managed IT, cyber security, hardware and software repairs, and related technology services to clients across Bergen County, NJ and the surrounding region.

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you visit our website or contact us, how we use that information, who we share it with, and the choices you have. By using our website or services, you agree to this policy.

2Information We Collect

Information You Provide

When you fill out a contact form, request a quote, call us, or email us, we collect the information you choose to share, which may include:

• Name
• Email address
• Phone number
• Business or company name
• Service address (for residential or onsite work)
• Description of your IT needs or issue

Information We Receive from Google

If you contact us through Google — for example through a Google Local Services ad, our Google Business Profile, or a call button in one of our Google ads — Google passes us the details needed to respond, such as your name, phone number, and message. Google may also share basic call details (such as the time, duration, and caller’s area code) and, where its call recording feature is turned on, may record those calls under Google’s own terms.

Information Collected Automatically

When you visit our site, we (and our third-party providers) automatically collect:

• IP address and approximate geographic location
• Device type, browser, operating system, and screen resolution
• Pages viewed, time spent, scroll depth, and clicks, including taps on our phone number
• Referring website (where you came from)
• Whether you arrived via a paid ad, organic search, social, or direct visit
• Cookies and similar tracking identifiers (see Section 4)
• Browser and device signals used by our spam protection to tell people apart from automated bots (see Section 5)

Our web server keeps access logs (IP address, time, page requested, browser type and referring page) for security and troubleshooting. Our first-party analytics records page views, scrolling, visible-section attention, control clicks and contact-form progress, but does not read or record the contents of form fields. A random browser identifier is kept in local storage. Declining optional tracking stops this collector on every page, including advertising landing pages. Minimized usage summaries may be processed by Anthropic for our internal website analysis; we exclude raw form content and direct visitor identifiers from those requests. Active analytics records are removed after 120 days. Restricted recovery copies made for these changes are kept for at most seven days.

When you send a contact form, our server forwards it to Formspree and records a lead identifier, time and page only after Formspree acknowledges acceptance. A short-lived, secure confirmation cookie lasts up to ten minutes and helps prevent false or repeated conversion reporting. Your contact details are used to answer your request and may enter our email and RepairShopr ticket system; those business inquiry records are separate from anonymous usage analytics.

3How We Use Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Respond to inquiries, schedule service, and provide written quotes
• Deliver the IT services you’ve engaged us for
• Send service-related emails and follow-ups
• Improve our website, troubleshoot technical issues, and analyze traffic patterns
• Measure the effectiveness of our advertising and marketing
• Keep spam and automated bots out of our contact forms
• Comply with legal obligations and protect against fraud

We do not sell your personal information to third parties, and we do not use it for purposes unrelated to running our business.

Automated tools. We use automated tools, including an AI service provided by Anthropic, to review aggregated Google Ads reports of the search terms that triggered our ads, so we can stop showing ads for unrelated searches and improve our ad wording. These reports contain search phrases and ad statistics, not your name or contact details, and we do not use these tools to make decisions about individual people.

4Cookies & Tracking

Our site uses cookies and similar technologies (such as web beacons, pixels, and browser storage) to make the site work, remember preferences, measure traffic, protect our forms, and support our advertising. You can control cookies through your browser settings or device-level controls.

Categories of cookies and storage we use

• Essential: required for the site to work — for example, browser storage that remembers your cookie choice.
• Security: Cloudflare Turnstile checks that a contact form is being sent by a person rather than a bot (see Section 5).
• Analytics: Google Analytics 4 (GA4) measures aggregate site usage so we can improve performance and content.
• Advertising: Google Ads and Microsoft Advertising cookies and tags measure which ads lead to completed form submissions; Google Ads also measures eligible phone calls, and can add visitors to audiences so our ads may be shown to them later.
• Click fraud protection: on our ad landing pages only, ClickCease identifies invalid clicks on our paid ads to prevent ad budget waste.

Managing your choice on this site. Every customer-facing page offers Cookie Settings. The notice lets you Accept or Decline optional analytics and advertising tracking. A saved decline is respected on advertising landing pages as well as normal pages, and turns off our first-party usage collector immediately. We update Google and Microsoft consent settings and remove related first-party cookies. Necessary form processing and security controls, including Cloudflare Turnstile and ClickCease fraud protection, continue to protect the site.

Ad landing pages. Our ad landing pages do not show the cookie banner. Google measurement and ClickCease run on these pages. Microsoft Advertising tracking and enhanced form conversion data respect a previously saved Decline choice. You can change that choice using Cookie Settings on our main website pages.

Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control. Our website does not currently respond to browser “Do Not Track” or Global Privacy Control signals. You can still decline cookies with the banner on most pages, block cookies in your browser, or contact us to opt out (see Section 7).

5Third-Party Services

To run the site and serve our customers, we use the following third-party providers. Each handles your data under their own privacy policy:

Some pages also display images hosted by other services, such as our Better Business Bureau accreditation seal (bbb.org) and some blog photos (Unsplash). Loading them sends your IP address and browser details to those services, as with any web image.

6Advertising & Remarketing

We advertise on Google, and our Google tag can use Google’s remarketing features. This means:

• If you visit our site, you may later see our ads on Google or on other websites and apps that work with Google.
• Google uses cookies to determine which ads to show based on your prior visits to our site.
• We use Google Ads and Microsoft Advertising conversion tracking to measure completed form submissions. Eligible Google Ads calls can be measured using a forwarding number and call duration; a phone-number click alone is not a primary lead conversion. This website tracking does not record call audio.
• Enhanced conversions. When you submit a contact form, your email address and phone number are held briefly in your browser until the confirmation page loads. The pending information is removed then, expires after 30 minutes, and is cleared when the tab closes. If you have not declined advertising tracking, these details are provided to Google and Microsoft in hashed form so they can match completed submissions to advertising interactions. We also retain advertising click identifiers, including Google click IDs and Microsoft click IDs, with inquiries to help attribute leads.

You can opt out of Google’s use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of third-party vendor use of cookies for personalized advertising via the Digital Advertising Alliance opt-out page.

7Your Rights & Choices

Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding your personal information, including:

• Access: request a copy of the personal information we hold about you
• Correction: ask us to correct information that is inaccurate
• Deletion: ask us to delete your personal information
• Opt-out of targeted advertising: ask us to stop using your information for targeted advertising
• Opt-out of marketing: unsubscribe from any marketing emails or request that we stop contacting you
• Cookie controls: use Cookie Settings in our footer to decline analytics and advertising cookies, or use your browser’s settings to block or delete cookies

U.S. state privacy rights: residents of New Jersey, California, and other states with consumer privacy laws may have the rights above, to the extent those laws apply to us. We do not sell personal information for money, but the use of advertising cookies may be considered “sharing” or “targeted advertising” under some state laws. We will not treat you differently for exercising your rights.

EU/UK residents (GDPR): you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict processing, and port your data, and to object to processing. The legal basis for our processing is generally your consent (forms, cookies) or our legitimate business interests (analytics, ad measurement, spam and fraud prevention).

How to make a request: contact us using the details in Section 11. We may need to confirm your identity before acting on a request, and we aim to respond within 45 days. If we decline your request, you may ask us to reconsider by replying to our response.

8Data Retention & Security

We retain personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described above — typically the duration of our customer relationship plus a reasonable period afterward for tax, audit, and legal purposes. Some specific periods:

• Contact form submissions are kept in our email and in Formspree’s archive until we no longer need them for the purposes above.
• Our web server access logs are kept for about 120 days.
• Your cookie choice is stored in your browser until you change it or clear your browser data.
• Form details held for enhanced conversions are deleted from your browser when our confirmation page loads, and are never used if more than 30 minutes old.

We use industry-standard safeguards to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), access controls, and reputable third-party providers. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, but we work to keep your data protected.

9Children’s Privacy

Our website and services are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we’ve received information from a child under 13, please contact us and we’ll delete it.

10Updates to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy occasionally to reflect changes in our practices or for legal, regulatory, or operational reasons. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page indicates when the most recent changes took effect. Material changes will be highlighted on the site or communicated by email to active customers.
